Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope this letter finds you well. The 2026 legislative session flew by, and we’re now headed into a long interim. However, since session ended, I have been busy meeting with you and working on the issues you care about the most in the 17th District. Just because we have entered the interim, that doesn’t mean my work as a legislator is done.
Speaking of the 2026 legislative session, you can get an in-depth recap of the biggest things that happened by reading my 2026 session recap update. You can also read my end-of-session newsletter by clicking here.
Although there were some positive outcomes this past session, there were also failures and bad legislation passed by the majority party, including the decision to create Washington’s first-ever state income tax.
That means we still have many pressing items to address, including the affordability crisis, transportation issues such as the Camas Slough Bridge, increasing public safety, and improving educational outcomes, health care, and fish hatcheries. As your representative, I’ll be working hard throughout the interim to make our state a better place for everyone to live.
I look forward to working closely with you this interim to find real solutions and fix Washington.

Election Year Restrictions
Because 2026 is an election year, we must abide by certain restrictions to comply with state ethics laws. Those restrictions begin on Monday, May 4. That means I will not be able to send you email updates until after the November general election results are certified. In fact, all my legislative communications will be limited or restricted over the next six months.
However, I am still your full-time state representative, and I can respond to all constituents who contact me at any time of the year. So please don’t hesitate to reach out. I want to hear your input. I invite you to email, call, or send me a letter anytime, and I will always respond as quickly as possible.
